There is a new feature in this title known as E.D.G.E which focuses much like a bullet time, allowing you to slow down time and deal massive damage to your enemies. But, thanks to the on-foot sections, it also functions like a sort of cover shooter like Gears of War, except it doesn’t force you to hug a wall every time, and instead allows you to crouch and move while remaining free to travers the battlefield. It functions like a low budget third person Titanfall, or Hawken. A 3D, third-person action shooter, this game takes a step away from the tactical role-playing gameplay of Front Mission. It functions well, adds a lot of diversity and allows you to take on a lot of the challenges your way. One of the best bits about this game is the robot customization. There are also parts where you will have to leave your robot and fight on foot, which provides a nice bit of diversity to the gameplay. The main concept of the game is to customize your own battle robot and fight through waves of enemies with it. The gameplay of this title is pretty good, there are some good bits and some bad bits but overall, its quite enjoyable. For all intents and purposes, this is a solid game that is actually worth getting despite its low budget and I think you’d enjoy if you’re a fan of the genre. That may sound a little reductive as there is certainly more to it than that, but you’ll realize the way I’m writing about it is actually a subtle but loaded nod to a game that isn’t trying to be more than it truly is. Jump into the pilot seat of a giant customized battle robot and get into fights with other giant robots in a game that is about, nearly entirely, giant robot battles. If you’re looking for giant robot battles, you are looking for Front Mission Evolved.
